I read the instructions and still don't know how to use the product. Does anyone know how I should use it and when I should use it?.

Thank you

Phil

I use it when I change the wafer. After shower, I apply on the skin, since my stoma retracted completely, let it dry, and then attach the wafer to the skin.  I’ve used it with the wipe presentation, and now I’m using it in spray. The only problem is that if the spray is not dry enough, it damages the wafer, or even the glue of the wafer, having then to use the hall-moon stickers to secure the wafer to the skin before attaching the bag.

This site has been a blessing for me in learning how to cope with and navigate this journey as an ostomate. I have a colostomy as a result of a perforation in my colon since May of this year. I don't know yet if it will be permanent or reversible. The people on here have provided me with so much advice and information about living with an ostomy that I don't think I could get anywhere else. You all have given me hope and a place to come to for support. I still struggle with acceptance, but know that it will come if I am patient. Patience has never been my strong suit! Also, I love all the humor, although it really pissed me off when I first came on here. Thanks to all of you.

Hi, it's like a thin 'plastic' film you wipe or spray onto your skin after cleaning and Drying it, to help protect your skin from 'stuff' ie moisture, sweat, p*ss, sh*t, leakages et.c.

It does work and helps for many folk.

Best wishes,

I use the wipe, as does ostojock.  I have skin irritation around the stoma due to shearing from the peristomal hernia.  Applied during a bag change to clean skin,  it offers protection for your skin.

Hi Phil, You don't say if you have a stoma or not. The barrier wipes ( I use smith and nephew brand) are meant to be used in the process of changing the wafer / pouch. Some people shower without the wafer on. The hot water is fine for the stoma, but be careful with soap, and body washes because they can leave some residue on the skin, hampering adhesions. People with stomas, from ileostomies, and colostomies can also use the wipes. After you've washed the skin ( I use hot water and then cold , to close the pores) I wipe down the skin around the stoma, and wherever the wafer will be placed. It leaves a good film...and protects the skin, and helps the wafer adhere. I next use, stoma hesive powder, which sticks to the barrier wipe, and adds another protective layer to the skin. Next I take the prepared wafer, and carefully fit it around the stoma, and on the skin that you prepared with the wipe ( and powder if you use it). I hope this helps.. If not...send me a message with further questions.. Good luck, Marsha
