Inexpensive deodorants for pouches?

This topic is all about finding affordable ways to keep ostomy pouches smelling fresh. If you're using liquid deodorant drops and sometimes run out, here are some budget-friendly alternatives you might find helpful:

1. Baby oil can serve as both a lubricant and a deodorizer. It's inexpensive and comes in travel-sized bottles that are easy to take through airport security.

2. Security T Ostomy Deodorant by Genairex is another option. It's available for about $5.52 for an 8 oz bottle, which should last about a month. It's noted to be cheaper than some other brands but just as effective.

3. Plain baking soda is a very cost-effective choice. You might be wondering how much to use, but even a small amount can be quite effective.

4. Peppermint extract, typically used for baking, can be a great low-cost solution. Just a couple of drops in the pouch can provide strong odor control.

5. Peppermint dietary gel caps are another option. You can drop one into the pouch, and as the gel melts, it releases peppermint oil that keeps things smelling fresh for most of the day.

6. Peppermint Altoids or Tic Tacs can also be used in a pinch. Just drop one into the pouch for a quick minty refresh.

7. M9 Deodorant Drops are a standard product that many people use. Some find that just two drops in the morning and at night are sufficient.

8. Lastly, a struck match or a book of matches is an old-fashioned method that some still use to mask odors quickly after emptying the pouch.
