Dealing with My First Blockage - A Cautionary Tale

Topic Explanation:
The initial post describes the author's experience with their first blockage, which caused severe abdominal pain and was attributed to not crushing Cardamom Seeds before using them in a curry.

Advice and Insights:
- Chew food thoroughly to avoid blockages.
- Drink plenty of water with meals.
- Be cautious with fiber-rich foods and coconut macaroons as they can trigger blockages.
- Hot liquids and changing positions can help with blockages.
- Small intestine doesn't absorb liquid like the large intestine, leading to rapid and liquid stool output with an ileostomy.
- Eating foods like oatmeal, bananas, rice, and breads can help thicken stool and prevent blockages.
- Some individuals may develop adhesions or stenosis after surgery, which can lead to blockages.
- Severe blockages may require hospitalization and can be life-threatening.
- Coke can help with blockages.
- Imodium can help thicken stool output.
- NG tube may be used to help the bowel wake up and untwist on its own in case of a twisted bowel.
