Finding the Perfect Ostomy Belt on a Budget

This topic is all about finding budget-friendly alternatives to commercial ostomy belts. If you're looking for ways to secure your ostomy pouch without spending too much, here are some creative and practical ideas shared by others:

1. A back-support brace's elastic panel was tried, but it was too heavy and didn't cover the entire pouch.

2. A men's formal cummerbund was another option. It looked nice but felt overpriced.

3. Two commercially made ostomy belts were comfortable and included an inner pouch, but they were very expensive and wore out over time.

4. The best discovery was a woman's plain stretch tube top, bought online for just $3.99 plus shipping. It holds the appliance securely all day and night, under any clothing, and even while swimming, thanks to its quick-drying fabric. The person who tried this option ended up buying more in different colors.

Here are some additional tips and insights:

- A cheap tube-top option is the Velcro Wrap, item #8998865, available online. It worked well for someone until one was damaged in the washer.

- Spandex jogging or compression shorts can also serve as an ostomy wrap.

- Maternity "belly bands" or generic pregnancy support bands offer good coverage and stretch.

- The Ostomy Secrets Wrap, priced around $25 each, is effective but needs to be air-dried, which means longer turnover time between washes.

- The Stealth Belt might ride up toward the waist for users with very small waists or hips, or if the stoma is placed exactly at the waistline, making it harder to conceal.
