Treat yourself - reward yourself

This topic is all about finding joy and rewarding yourself after going through the challenges of an ostomy and its reversal. The idea is to lift your spirits by doing something you truly love, which can make a big difference in how you feel. Here are some suggestions and insights to consider:

1. Treat yourself to live events that excite you, like concerts or shows. For example, seeing a favorite artist like Paul McCartney or Bob Seger can be a wonderful way to celebrate.

2. If you're trying to quit a habit, replace it with a positive reward. One person successfully quit smoking by buying a new car on the same day, which helped fill the void and supported their success.

3. Choose activities or treats that bring you personal joy. This could be anything from paddling a kayak, playing with your pets, enjoying a good movie with popcorn, or even buying a new car if that's within your means.

4. If you're a parent or caregiver, it's easy to forget about your own needs. Make sure to schedule small daily rituals for yourself, like a quiet morning routine or a few minutes of personal time, to ensure you’re taking care of yourself too.

5. Consider traveling and exploring new places, such as taking a trip to Europe. Embrace the idea of "throwing caution to the wind" and treat yourself to experiences that make you happy, because life is short.
