Avoiding Blockages with an Ileostomy and No Upper Teeth

This topic is about someone who has an ileostomy and recently had all their upper teeth removed. Since then, they've been experiencing blockages and are looking for ways to prevent them until they can get dentures. Here are some helpful suggestions and insights shared by others:

1. Even though you're puréeing or finely processing your food and avoiding high-risk foods, consider that the blockages might be due to scar tissue or adhesions rather than the texture of the food. It might be helpful to ask your doctor about getting diagnostic imaging, like a CT scan or a colonoscopy through the stoma, to check for these issues.

2. Some people have found that eating canned beets or jellied cranberry sauce can help keep the output looser, which might reduce the risk of blockages.

3. It's great that you're planning to see your primary doctor soon and are hoping to move up your appointment with the gastroenterologist. They can provide more personalized advice and treatment options.
