Constant Pain a Year After Emergency Stoma Surgery

This topic is about someone who had emergency stoma surgery over a year ago and is still dealing with ongoing pain. After the surgery, they faced serious complications, including sepsis and multiple operations to address burst abscesses. Now, they are living with constant back and muscle pain, as well as discomfort and cramping around the stoma area. Despite these issues, doctors haven't found a physical cause, and one suggested the pain might be psychological, which the person disagrees with. They are reaching out to see if others have had similar experiences and are looking for advice.

Here are some helpful suggestions:

1. Consider getting a second opinion from another doctor. A fresh perspective might lead to a more thorough investigation into the persistent pain rather than attributing it to psychological factors.

2. Understand that ongoing back and abdominal pain after surgery can sometimes be due to the body's internal healing and adjustments. However, if the pain is severe and long-lasting, it might be due to adhesions or other complications. In such cases, diagnostic imaging like a CT scan or MRI could be helpful in identifying the cause.
