Issues with Canned Fruit Filling in Pie Making?

This topic is about whether canned fruit fillings used in pies can cause intestinal blockages for people with an ostomy. Here are some helpful insights and advice shared by others:

- No one reported having a blockage from eating canned pie filling.
- It's important to follow some general preventive practices:
- Chew every bite thoroughly to aid digestion.
- Eat moderate portions and avoid over-indulging.
- A gradual "self-test" approach is suggested for trying new foods:
1. On the first day, try one or two bites.
2. On the second day, increase to four or five bites.
3. If you tolerate it well, you can then try a full serving.
This method can be useful for reintroducing any food into your diet.
- Keep in mind that your body continues to heal and adapt even years after surgery. Foods that were once difficult to digest may become easier to handle over time, so it's a good idea to periodically test your tolerance.
