How to Use Hollister Lock and Roll?

This topic is about learning how to use the Hollister "Lock & Roll" drainable pouch closures. The person who started the discussion received some free samples of these pouches but is used to ones that close with plastic clips. They found the instructions lacking and couldn't find any helpful videos, so they are looking for guidance on how to use this new system effectively.

Here are some helpful tips and advice:

1. Opening the outlet for the first time:
- The outlet might feel stiff initially. Try massaging or rubbing the end between your thumb and forefinger until the two film layers separate and an opening appears.

2. How to close and lock:
- After emptying the pouch, roll the tail upward toward the pouch body, just like you would with clip pouches, until the two Velcro pads meet.
- Make sure the rough (hook) Velcro surface is on the same side as the locking strip. Press the two Velcro pads firmly together, then slide your thumb across the top strip to "lock" it in place. You might feel or hear a slight "pop" or click on some models.
- Gently tug on the tail to ensure the seal is secure.

3. General tips:
- If the pouch resists folding, try reversing the direction. It should roll easily when you start on the correct side.
- Many users find the Lock & Roll closure easy to use, leak-proof, and appreciate that it eliminates the need for separate clips once you get the hang of it.

4. Additional help:
- Hollister's customer service can connect you with a nurse or product specialist who can guide you through the process over the phone.
