Meet & talk to fellow OstoMates 20,340 members

I have had 5 surgeries in the last 5 years. 2014 I had colorectal cancer. 5 years cancer free now.I just had the sugar baker technique surgery done. I have had 4 parastomal hernias and all have been repaired. It has been a challenging 5 years however I have become comfortable with who I am now. I would like to talk to anyone who has had similar issues. It does help if you can find the humor in having a front butt. Looking to share experiences and hopefully easing some of the emotional baggage that comes with the stigma of being different. It has taken me a few years to accept my self when I look in the mirror. Now the bag is part of me that I have accepted. Everyone has medical, physical or emotional issues that they have to accept. I may have front butt and someone else may be an amputee. Most likely we probably share many of the same issues just different body parts. They may have lost a leg and I loss my ass hole. My point is that we can be very compassionate to each other because of the similarities of the experiences. I look forward to sharing with you.
