Happy. A state of mind, I guess.
I'm "happy" to have survived a major infection, surgery, pain. The tradeoff: This thing sticking out of my abdomen. How happy can one be with an ostomy, a stoma?
So, I'm trying to convince myself to be happy. My wife is happy I recovered, but unhappy with my new normal. She doesn't want to see it or hear about it. But "it" cannot be ignored... sticking prominently out under my shirt. Every time I stare at myself in a mirror... I'm profoundly unhappy. Can't get it reversed. Mini volcanic hernia smoldering. Yep... happy happy.
