OK, if you want to be a nitpicker, call it 5.1. And pay attention, Des, I spell my name with a Y.

I just finished reading the Ostomy Tips Book under COLLECTIONS at the top of the page. I did not realize how much information was there. It covers a lot

of things that people have questions about. Hope this may answer some things for people. Best wishes and stay safe

Yes, you do spell your name with a "y." But did you know "y" in a last letter name often refers to gender identity? At least in America. And in my thoughts.

I met a Cindy. (👋 to Night Owl) She pointed out it's Cindi.

However, Toni is female, and Tony is male.

Terri is often female, whereas Terry is male.

Figured you couldn't start your day without knowing this.😆

You have a point with Toni and Tony; I've only ever seen them used that way. But Terry is both male and female, though Terri is typically only female, and Cindy or Cindi is always female, be it "y" or "i." Truly, there are no hard and fast rules on name spellings.

I use my former maiden name as a middle name now because, in my humble opinion, my original middle name was spelled like a boy's. It never occurred to my parents that it could be a boy's name at all. 🤦‍♀️🤣

Italian family gathering, someone asks where Tony is, several people raise their hands - males and females. 😆🤦

"Call me anything you want, just not late to dinner."

Ok, I know... idiomatic

Well, you'd have to ask my mother why she decided to spell my name with a Y. I know that before I was born, my name had already been chosen: Teresa if I was a girl, and Terrance if I was a boy. No one other than my grade one teacher ever called me Teresa. I always liked that my name was spelled with a Y. It made me a little different, and I often found it interesting, when meeting someone for the first time, that if they only had my printed name to go by, they would assume I was male. I kind of liked that it put people a little off balance for a second! But, Susan is right, when it comes to names these days, there are no rules anymore. I know three women who all have the same name: Jaimie, Jaymee, and Jaimee. I also know Kaycee, Casey, and Kayce, two females and one male.

Sad news about San Francisco. It's probably been twenty years since we were last there, and it was still a cool place to visit. My husband was one of the original hippies, born in SF, and hung out in the Haight and Golden Gate Park. He partied with the Grateful Dead. I told him about the 'poop' app. Not that we were planning on going back.

It is a bit frustrating. You may want to know the gender of the person you strike up a conversation with on here before you suffer from foot-in-mouth disease. I'm noticing a new trend with people signing on. There is an outline of a neutral blank picture. No age. While clearly their name or handle gives you pause. I mean, it doesn't bother me. I eventually get to know these people, but is it MAO's new format? When you join, are you given choices not to include age, gender, etc., just a faceless blank photo? And a handle/name to go by? Have you noticed this? Weird.

I've noticed that trend too. I understand skipping the photo, but a few basics would help. And why don't people fill in their profiles? Such an easy way to capture basic history...

I have noticed this too and agree it's frustrating. It seems strange to me that you would sign onto a site where you are willing to share very personal, graphic medical information about yourself, and yet not want to reveal your gender or age. I often tailor my answers to some questions according to how old someone is and/or what sex they are. Someone was recently asking questions about what to wear, and yet I have no idea what sex they are or how old they are, so answers have to be very general and maybe not as helpful as they could be.

Come to Iowa. Kovid Kim Reynolds just removed that law and registration. She allows high school kids to carry. What could go wrong? Perry, Iowa. RIP.

Aye... no longer sit on the throne since 2016.

Emptying into a container, then the loo, saves knees, toilet paper, and no stink as you flush and empty.
