I had a question yesterday I had my first ostomy overlapse I rushed to the E-R and intestine was out not all of it but some of it. So they passed me to a room where they were about to check my intestine and without me noticing it my intestine retracted itself back into it place but back to my question I wanted to go out and skate but since my intestine was like that I wanted to know from someone if it's ok for me to go out and do jumps but also being careful at the same time. If anyone can reach to me quick I would really appreciate it

Thank you.

Very helpful

hi, I could see the cause for alarm with intestine popping out. how far  or exactly how much of it did expose itself? mine usually just pops out about an inch. this happens when I change the wafer or skin barrier.  but during the day without my noticing it i am sure it pops  in and out like a turle head.  if the case is a small prolapse lik e mine, i do not feel its anything to worry about but to go to ER and you said  not all of it was extended really has me worried..  like is alive. a freakin alien.  in that case where it is extended i see no reason to agravate it anymore until it goes back to normal..  i know your not talking about doing jumps with it hangin out like that.   surely that would create an emeregency.  so when it retracts to normal, i see no reason  hol du back from activities.. but do note. have some support..  are u using a belt??  wrap?? anything to keep in place.  havent seen u on here  so will check your profile since u needed a speedy reply.  good luck.  roll on. safely.

oh i just checked your profile young man. welcome.   i sincerely hope you try to fill the profile out more so people can accomodate your questions.  just saying u lik emusic is a start.. but..  the type of system you use would help..  when did u get it, why...  stuff that will help us help you, dig?  dont be shy.. theres nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed by. we are all in the same boat.. and in case youhave not seen other posts, they are eye opening topics and answers..  so i welcone you.  and hope you can contirubte some more information about yourself.  later dude.

Hi gang,

I was thinking what a great resource this site has been for me since I found it. It would have been really helpful, but maybe a bit scary, to have found it before my ostomy, but that's water under the bridge. But I got thinking about it, and now I'm questioning why doctors and hospitals don't provide this site's contact info to any patient even considering an ostomy today. And how can we change that so potential ostomates can learn about the road ahead for them by getting on here and asking questions before the docs go chop-chop. How exactly do you get all hospitals to provide their patients specific information, like this website?

I just happened to find this site something like 4 years after my ostomy when I Googled "ostomy forum" or something like that. But I never found it during previous searches.....so I found this site pretty much by pure luck. We need to find a way to make this site available to new or soon-to-be ostomates......as that's when we really need to commiserate with fellow ostomates. Anybody have any thoughts on how we do this?

Thanks,

Bob
