Greetings all, happy new year and glad tidings to all of you. : )

I did an out-of-the-box COVID test thing. This is my confession, this is my story:

A couple of weeks ago I got a headache that would never go away; it moved all around my head, and nothing OTC helped. A few days after that, my guts had a major painful long hissy fit that had me experiencing "gotta go!" pressure in where my booty hole used to be (plus everywhere else in my GI tract). My prayer that night started with "Lord, if you choose to let me live another day.." and ended with a moan instead of an amen. Thankfully I woke up to face another day, talked to a friend who shared they had COVID, and remembered I had tests at my abode.

I stuck the swab up my nostrils and swirled it the instructed number of times ... and then thought "why not poke that swab into my bag of post-gut-hissy-fit diarrhea?"

That dookie was positive AF.

I kept retesting the same manner, nose first, then dookie, positive line getting fainter and non-existent as of today. Yay! Headache is 80-90% better, too.

Make of this what you will.

But did you swirl the swab in your bag too? It's pretty obvious that your output would test positive too; it was inside you. The real question is, can you use output for a pregnancy test? This one is up to you, ladies.

I’ve only been on this site a little bit, I hardly know how to navigate it, LOL! I just want to say that everyone seems so kind and supportive to each of the members and it’s not only helpful, it makes me happy that there really are so many nice people in this world that can sometimes feel so bleak and cold. I didn’t even know about this site until I found it by accident. I think the hospital staff should bring it to their patients’ attention. Thanks to all, even if you’re just listening!

Alex - my point was that I think I would have tested negative with the nose swirl only because it was not in my respiratory system.

A couple of years ago, I think I had it, tested negative via nose PCR test, wondering then if I would have tested positive with a stool sample.

There have been people who stuck the swab in a bottle of mustard, and the mustard had COVID, as well as a bottle of perfume...

Yeah, I've been looking into that possibility.

This is from https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/Spectrum.00683-21: "When nasal swabs were used to sample the various products and processing occurred with manufacturer buffer, no false positives or invalid results were observed."

OMG ppl! The tests were NOT approved to test mustard, perfume, or test for pregnancy. Geeeeze. As a lifelong clinical chemist, even with the best of tests, there are interfering substances that invalidate, and we report out disclaimers. So yes, mustard might test positive; that does not mean there is Covid in mustard.

I will share this with my technical co-workers; it will make their day. Thanks, everyone.
