Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been on here. I have a question about ostomy belts. My stoma nurse said I should get a new belt that would give me more support, as my job can be physical at times. I was told to look at Stealth Belt and Coloplast. Any other ideas out there? I heard good things about the Stealth Belt. One of the reasons I was looking at Stealth Belt is I can wear my bag horizontally when wearing the belt. The price on them is $112.00. My question is, are they worth the money? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Hunter-

I have had a Pro Stealth belt for a couple of months and highly recommend it. I wear it when I'm out running errands like grocery shopping and when I am at work. It supports my ostomy appliance well and also camouflages it. My work is pretty sedentary, so I don't know how it will work for you if you do heavy physical work. It is a bit pricey, but you might want to give it a try.

Hubz had a regular checkup with the oncologist on Friday (his numbers are improving), and as they were asking how he's feeling since surgery, they became curious about how he's doing so well with his ostomy, both physically and mentally. He credited doing research online, trying different things, and especially the support from this group. They were asking because they see so many patients struggling to adjust.

We described this group as folks with every kind of ostomy, some for days while others for decades, but all willing to share what's worked for them with the caveat that every individual is different.

We described the most valuable element as feeling like you're not alone in this. That really piqued their interest, and they wrote down the link. It seems they had a few people in mind that might benefit from the community and thanked us for telling them about it.

You know, we can't remember exactly who we learned about this group from, but we're grateful for it every day! Thank you all! 🌻

NU-Hope belts. Everyone's opinion on what's physical is different for everyone. Physical for me is way more physical than 95% of what I read people do on here. So, in my opinion, if you're going to be actually physical/active, you want a wider belt/wrap that gives more support over your overall midsection, where we are most vulnerable to injury/hernias. Stealthbelts are okay in my opinion, but they lack being wide enough overall (unless you have one custom made).

Hello Hunter44.

I use a Fulcionel easy wear belt from CUI ( www.cuiwear.com).
They make a whole range of different stuff to suit different circumstances. I like this one because it is easily adjustable.
However, I did have an idea for a belt of my own design and they were quite happy to make me one. (it did not work quite as well in practice but it's good to know that there are firms out there who will listen and respond appropriately to my requests).
My main 'problem with these belts is that I seem to be allergic to the elastic rims, so I have to fold them over so that this part is not touching my skin, otherwise they work quite well for me.
Best wishes

Bill

I use Nu-Hope Corporation belts. They offer many options for belt width and belt material.

I have 2, 3, and 4-inch wide belts I wear every day.

I found an ostomy belt from TEMU that is about 5 inches wide with a cutout for the appliance.

I have included a photo for you. It was actually very inexpensive at under $6.00.

Hope this might be helpful.

I can't see anything but a tiny blue box with a ? in it. 🤷‍♂️

I think that pictured animal above him ate his head and photo  of the belt. Hungry lion maybe?

You and me both, bro. What's up with that?

I've tried different belts in the past but didn't find them comfortable. I wear a compression tank under my shirts, and it's a lot more comfortable and hides the bag well while holding it down. Pic attached.

Aaaah... a men's girdle? Looks awfully warm for summer wear. Winter would be my choice, but...

How far down does it go? I mean, do you tuck it into your pants too?

IDK... this looks bulletproof! Won't it squeeze the stoma, pushing it back into your stomach? No room for expansion either, like a pocket.

Pop! goes the seal.

How long have you been wearing this thing?

It doesn't come with the abs as it appears in the pic. Lol

It's a super thin polyester tight tank top, so I don't find it too warm in the summer. I've been wearing these for around 4 years.

I rarely tuck shirts in, so it just hangs unseen underneath the same length as my shirt. When I rarely do tuck, it just comfortably tucks in with my shirt.

The only negative is it can “pancake” a little.

Does it come in extra, extra heavy duty?

Asking for a friend in Jersey. 😉

Thank you everyone for their input. Now I just have to decide which couple of belts I want to go with.

Hernipro made me an adjustable, custom belt, which seems about the right width. I use it sometimes for things like golf and cycling. Otherwise, the small belt with the Hollister two-piece system is something I wear all the time.

Both the Hollister and Coloplast belts work for me for golf and heavy landscaping. I tried several months of the various Stealth belts, but they caused some bad pancaking. Pressing against the stoma and restricting flow, I don't see how they can work for anyone.
