Now it's Sunday, and I'm worried about what I will find when I finally take this appliance off. I've been taking the small dose of Oxy and the Miralax to counteract the constipation, but it's still pretty sore, especially when I try to bend. I had showers, and the bag is staying on, but I cannot tell what I will find when I do remove it. I've been advised that running water gently over it will be okay, but that it might hurt. How long does the healing of the stitches take? What if the bags I have don't fit or work with this new stoma? I might be talking out of my skull, but I'm a little worried about what I will find.

Just take it one step at a time. Good luck, and keep us up to date.

Yeah wow, this site helped so much, I mean really who do you know with this infliction? No one, felt so alone and disgusted by myself every turn.
But it ended up being so damn strengthening, I got fucking moving, really only another choice.
That's

I was damaged by a procedure and ended waking with this, I understand all of you.. perhaps you had to have it, I get it.. doesn't matter either way.
Just wanted to share that

Try not to worry about things that have not happened; there will be plenty of time for that. If you have a two-piece appliance, you can remove the pouch to see what size barrier/wafer/flange you will need.

Slow down D

One thing at a time. When you remove the bag, you will have a brand new stoma. 😀

Yes, it will hurt for a bit, and the stitches will be healed when they are ready to be. 👍

You are a survivor. You've had a stoma before, so you aren't starting from scratch. If what you have doesn't work well, you know how to get samples of new supplies to try. You know how to troubleshoot. You can always come here and ask questions if you get stuck. You've got this.

Hi Dwild, when I had a revision a few years ago, I used the template that comes in the box of wafers to measure my new stoma. It went from the old at about 3/8 in. to 29 mm, with swelling down to 25 mm nowadays.

Ditto what everyone else said! You will have plenty of time to worry if and when you need to! You will be fine! You've got this, and we're here for you if you need help. Let us know how it goes.
