Pouch Closure Issues with Hollister Flex-End

Hi, I have been using Hollister flex-end pouches with the "lock 'n' roll" closure as my predominant pouch for a year or so. I recently experienced a failure of the adhesive that attaches the Velcro strip to the discharge end of the pouch. I was able to temporarily use a paper clip to get home and change. Has anyone else recently had this type of failure? Littlefish

I'm not using those pouches, but many people use an IGGIE clip, named for the guy who invented it. It's a small binder clip with a magnet glued to one of the "ears" to help prevent failures.

Search for IGGIE in the members; I think there's a photo of his clever idea on his profile.

Or maybe the man himself will see this and post.

No, but all of us get faulty bags at times. It knocks your confidence for a day or two, and you end up checking the bag every two minutes. I would carry on using them if it were me. Bag closures are mainly very secure now. I know in the bad old days when bag closures weren't very secure, people, including my uncle, used metal clips, but they are not really needed these days. Closures have improved so much over the last 30 years.

Yep! Got back from the park with my tiny, baby puppy, smelled something, and whoops!

Have no idea how it happened. At least I was home when it did.

I wear a pouch similar to what you wear; I also use the Iggy clip. I'm able to wear mine for 5 days, and I noticed sometimes by the fourth day that the Velcro-type closure gets a little bit dirty from emptying. I use an old toothbrush with some soap and scrub it, and it usually brings back the original adhesion to it.

I'm currently using the same pouch. I still don't trust any closure to be 100%, mainly since I'm only a week and a half into my new life. I did, however, wake myself up from a dream last night thinking my tail was open and gushing contents in bed, on my husband. Talk about a panic attack!

Better get your husband a raincoat pajama 😊.

Here is a picture of the most excellent IGGIE clip. I wear one all the time. I even carry a folded-down spare in my wallet.

I have trouble with the Hollister adhesive (it makes my skin itch), so I'm using a Convatec bag now, and the Velcro strip is twice as thick as the Hollister version. It really helps my confidence.

Hi Littlefish… I had a similar problem with various Velcro closure leaks… I basically don't trust them. I sometimes change the type of pouches, and if I use one with a Velcro closure, I also secure it with a closure clip (you can get them on Amazon). It gives a whole new meaning to the words social security…..🤪…jb

Call Hollister and tell them you got faulty, damaged bags; they will replace them.

G-Day Littlefish,

This is the IGGIE Clip, and it's best with a magnet glued to it to prevent it from opening.

I haven't had that particular failure, but I'm sorry to hear of it happening. I fear that product quality is deteriorating, as we seem to be hearing of these things more frequently.

Yes. Hollister has the tightest Velcro seal. Hard to press closed properly. Thumbs get sore. Poop ran down my leg while doing the dishes. Iggie uses a clip, and so did I. Their pouches and wafers are flimsy and tend to shred. Got occasional leaks. After I prolapsed, I went to Convatec moldable, and NOT one leak in 3 years! The trade-off is their roll-up is shorter, and M-9 or a drop of liquid poop can escape the seal or out of the filter. Switched to non-filtered and Adapt gel deodorant.
