I just suffered through a severe rash that came up all of a sudden and made it impossible to apply a flange. It's gone now, but I thought I'd pass along a suggestion... I keep pieces of my aloe plant in the freezer. When I could, I would take a piece out and rub it on the rash - very cooling and healing, and the rash healed very quickly. Aloe gel might work, but it also might sting due to other products in it. The pure aloe is the best.

You're the second person this week I've heard mention freezing pieces of aloe plant, Mummmeee. Thank you, such a great tip!

After I got my ostomy I found this site and got a lifetime membership. I have had so much help from the core members, things that even the wound care nurses didn't know. If you haven't been through this journey you don't know - only the people that have experienced this first hand truly understand what your going through. The support is enormously helpful getting through this. Afterwards when you start to learn how to deal with this new normal you can begin to help others.  ...mtnman.

Also, as you're in Canada, you could be using SALTS seals/rings, which are impregnated with Aloe.

Have an acreage and get bad poison ivy. My neighbor, an ER MD, got me on Mometasone Furoate 0.1%. Loose bandage and gone in 2-3 days. Instead of freezing aloe, grow it. Pretty plant, improves room air. For any itching or burns, I use Hawaiian Tropic's Cool Aloe I.C.E. Cools it right away! No stinging.
