Had a surgical review today. They talked about surgery as they are not happy with how small my stoma is and couldn't even get his finger in to feel for anything. They are talking about feeding tubes to bypass things to get me stronger for surgery. I'm not looking forward to it all, but needs must before I get any more malnourished. Having this site for support really helps. Thanks.

I am scheduled for my reversal on 12/4. All my pre-admin stuff is completed and my GI signed off on the clearance letter this morning. I am super excited and looking forward to not having a bag. I just hope all goes well and heals well so I don't wake up with a temp bag which will lead to yet another surgery.

I have learned a lot from this website and will continue to be on here even after surgery. To all the ostomates out there, keep your heads up and keep pressing forward. We all have good and bad days. Best of luck to you all.

I will be sure to post my progress after surgery. I'm praying for you all.

Did they ever determine why the stoma is so small?

Good luck, and it will all be for the better.

Another surgery isn't ideal, of course, but it's another step on your way in the right direction. Good news.

No, they didn't really look until yesterday and tried to examine it and couldn't. I have said for a while it's very small, but we never seem to be heard.

I'm so glad they finally see the problem. It's frustrating when we know there's a problem and doctors just don't get it.

I hope everything works out for you. Thanks for keeping us updated.

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this. Hang in there, and hopefully, things will improve soon.

Hi Kerry, I went through a similar situation years ago. I couldn't have my surgery because I was also malnourished. I weighed about 98 lbs. They put a port in my chest for meds and nutrition for about a month, but thankfully it helped. It had to be done, or they were not going to do my surgery, which in return saved my life. It will be fine; do what the doctors say. I know it's hard, but it's a must. I'll pray that everything works out and you will be fine. Stay strong. Best regards, S.I.L. Keep us posted.

They may be able to snip the stoma to make the opening a little bigger. Also, eat soups for a while and drink 1 gallon of liquid a day. Additionally, take Miralax and rub your stomach to keep things moving. I have a very large hernia, but I have been doing the above for 12 years and am doing fine.

Have a nutrition appointment to see what support I can get. I had one before, so I'm going to suggest it again to see if it is possible because it helped last time. But thanks for your support.

No one has said why it shrank so much.
