To recap, I have an extremely inverted stoma on a soft belly crease, and I had a horrible time with the bag I was using, always coming off just enough to let output get underneath the adhesive and destroy my skin. I tried glue and purple stuff, and nothing worked. The thing that changed the equation for me was changing the device I was using. Thanks to the Convatec video call, they realized I needed a more flexible product. Once I got that, things changed for the better. I also used a very thin product called “ExudermLP,” a low-profile hydrocolloid wound dressing, to cover the raw skin first, then the new bags over that. I think the combination of the extremely thin hydrocolloid covering and the better-fitting bag allowed my skin to finally heal! I am stunned to report that I last changed my bag on Friday, and today is Monday - I was changing daily and sometimes twice daily for a while there. This is with daily showers and regular eating (cut back on the fruit a bit), and I may not need to change it until tonight or tomorrow at this rate. I am so relieved that this worked and am planning to go for a walk to celebrate!

I’m usually not one for “support groups” and loathe whatever the hell they call Facebook these days.
This site has literally been a lifesaver because of its members, part support group, part dad jokes, part story telling, mostly friendship and if people don’t agree they just keep it to themselves. I honestly reminds me of the old days and just plain old polite society, it helps me more than I can explain. Thank you to everyone that allows me to engage with them and to all the members that help other members!
