I'm just wondering if there are any easy Jean shorts that are comfortable and less likely to pull on your ostomy? Right now I'm living in athletic spandex, like the stretch.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wear shorts first and then whatever jeans you like.
Use a tube top above the bag.

All my pants have elastic waistbands. I got some nice shorts from Costco and my jeans from Walmart.

When I found this web site, I didn't think its name had anything to do with actually meeting an ostomate but I later learned there were some folks who did meet and develop relationships. How good is that? That wasn't my intention. I definitely didn't want anyone to meet me. I felt broken and wasn't prepared to express those feelings. I thought it was a place where ostomates wrote about themselves, posed questions, shared thoughts, told jokes and, sometimes, just vented. I thought of it as a community of folks with similar interests and various degrees of experience. Mostly I found some of the most caring, selfless, wise and understanding people I ever imagined. I was so impressed with some of the writings; not because of their literary value but the way in which they addressed such a very complex environment. I read hundreds of exchanges and admired the way folks cared for each other. I became hopeful with my own situation and looked forward to the next day's offerings. Certainly some contributors stood out with their experience or particular skills in addressing some things but it seemed like a total effort with synergistic results. I felt blessed to have found this site. I still do.

These shorts are great by Banana Republic, made of rayon and linen, with pockets. End of season price: $14.97

Jean shorts need to have some spandex, so if your bag expands, there is room.

I live in athletic shorts with an elastic waist. If you can put your bag on the outside of your pants, you will have more options. Also, you might be able to find elastic jean shorts or elastic cotton shorts if you want something a little more dressy.

I wear a lot of denim jean skirts in the summer. For modesty, you can try "skorts" (skirt and shorts combined), so they can be super short. When I do wear jean shorts, they have elastane in them and allow me to bend and move easily without dislodging my ileostomy bag. You don't have to be stuck with "mom jeans" with an obvious elastic waist. There are a ton of great styles out there, and if you find one you like, buy it in several different colors! For economy, I usually shop at Temu (the online store in China), which gives great quality in fashion at very low prices.

I like overalls and jumpers.

I've had to give up my favorite style of jeans (mid-rise, bootcut) - mainly as the mid-rise waist lays right on my stoma.

Hello, I am so sorry you have to give them up; those are my favorite kinds as well. Luckily, mine is high enough I can still get away with most of them, and when it's not low enough, I turn the waistband down, like tucking it under… I can't wear the mom jeans because I have the same problem you are having with the low rise. I wear a lot of overalls or jumpers. Maybe try turning the waistband down to see if that helps….

Hope it works for you.

I have embraced light support boy shorts with a high waist for everything. I still wear regular jeans, pants, and shorts. These are so easy underneath anything, dresses included. They keep my stoma safe and secure. I try to give my stoma as much support as possible this way. There are more high-waisted styles now than ever. I used to like low to mid-rise jeans, and that isn't comfortable anymore.
