Chicki I take Walmart brand stool softer gel caps along with my Dibaties meds they both do the trick.

But at times I need some thing else. I drink some deit soda that has Asperntain or I keep a little box of Ice teat packets with Asperntain in it  mix ir in a bottle of water and drink about a half and it does make mt stool soft to come out.

And I drink a lot of water too.

After I got my ostomy I found this site and got a lifetime membership. I have had so much help from the core members, things that even the wound care nurses didn't know. If you haven't been through this journey you don't know - only the people that have experienced this first hand truly understand what your going through. The support is enormously helpful getting through this. Afterwards when you start to learn how to deal with this new normal you can begin to help others.  ...mtnman.

You will get lots of good advice no doubt dear :) ...but also be sure to inquire with your Doctor or Ostomy Nurse with this and go about that carefully....we all have a tendency to dehydrate quickly so whatever you choose make sure you continue to drink lots of water while doing so....take care! :)

Take a PEG laxative, like Restoralax or Lax a Day. It works like a dream... I should know I take it every day for breakfast. I've researched the laxitive with the docs and the drugist. They all agree the laxitives with PEG are the best.

Per my surgeon's instructions, I take a dose of Miralax every morning.  I mix it with sugar free Gatorade. Like others have said, when you take such a product you must drink a heck of a lot of fluids all day. I drink 8-10 pints of water and some tea every day. I no longer need to run to the loo for poo, it's for pee. Lol.

check with your doctor before trying any type of bowel med, be it laxative or something like Imodium. Special instructions may be required for you. Hope you find the right balance soon.
