Evening folks,

So to pile on to everything I have developed two hernias. The one that gives me the issue is a waist line abdominal hernia. I wear a compression wrap but with weight loss and the shape of my body (I am a bigger gentleman) the wraps I have found are not doing the job as well as I need them to. Looking for recommendaitons on brands and types of wraps to try. I would prefer something not as tall so I can get it into the area better. Right now I am using a 3 panel wrap and in trying to keep the stoma free it folds and falls down, loosening its hold over the stoma. Hope someone can help me out.

Hello Zito.

I had a simal sort of problem with the wraps and asked CUI if they would make me one smaller in width. They were quite willing to make whatever I wanted. However, the smaller one did not work very well either so I started looking for something else.

I should mention that I  have a parastomal hernia so I need to have the belt supporting the area immediately around the stoma. I tried all sorts of devices that left the stoma protruding whilst providing firm support around it. I made these myself and they worked quite well. However, because I irrigate and don't have output during the day, I decided to experiment with a belt that compresses the whole area. I found the solution ready made in the type of belts that are used to secure people into wheelchairs. They have the plastic clip-in buckles, which I place over the stoma area, which indents it a bit more than the rest of the belt.

Best wishes

Bill

Hey Zito

have you tried a wider belt. I believe it’s Nu-Hope makes a wide belt with an off set stoma hole so that most of the belt can be above or below your stoma, and you can get them in 6, 8 and 10  inch wide maybe wider by special order

good luck

Chris
