This is a great site, and I really have had some great positive feedback. However, living with a colostomy is very different than living with a urostomy. I myself have a urostomy due to bladder cancer and I find most of the discussions on here are geared more towards colostomy...and that's fine. I just think that it would be more user friendly if the site could maybe separate the two issues ...

Since we can't be like "able-anal-ed" folks and "take a dump," we need a saying of our own. "Draining the bag" just doesn't cut it. Some candidates to consider:

What's the best solution for redness and irritation around the stoma before applying the wafer.

Well, it has been four days since my stoma reversal surgery, and I came home on Saturday.
Surgery went well on May 21st; my surgeon said it took approximately 30 minutes.
My bowels ‘woke up' at 3:19 a.m. on May 22 with a very loud, smelly fart. At 5:29 a.m. the same morning, I rushed to the bathroom.

I just had my ileostomy surgery, and I have never felt so overwhelmed like this in a long time. Talking to someone who has some tips, knowledge, and supportive advice would be a literal lifesaver.
