Struggling to Apply Barrier Strips Correctly - Tips?

This topic is about someone who is having trouble applying ostomy barrier strips evenly. They find that one side sticks well, but the other side doesn't quite make it onto the barrier. They're curious if changing their body position or getting some help might make the process easier. Here are some tips and insights that might help:

1. Start by removing only a small section of the backing first. Place that end down, then peel off the rest of the backing as you lay the strip down. This method can make the process much easier.

2. Use mirrors for better visibility:
- Stand in front of a magnifying or large bathroom mirror to help guide the placement.
- Look down and move the pouch aside. It’s okay if the alignment isn’t perfect, as long as the strip touches the skin all around the barrier edge.

3. Rely on touch if seeing is difficult:
- Some people find success by feeling their way when positioning strips outside the main barrier.

4. Consider getting help if applying the strips by yourself is too challenging:
- Having someone assist you can be helpful, although it might feel a bit restrictive.
