Thatâs what happened to me too. Â The radiation âmeltedâ the intestines so that lots of spots closed up causing obstructions. Â Unfortunately 1.5 years later, Â I am still having it happen and get to be scoped every 3 months to deal with these areas by dilating them open & draining the blood.
But, Â Iâm still here so I guess thatâs still a good trade.

G-Day Pamela,
I had ulcerated colitis for many years, so in 2004, I got my colon removed and got a J-pouch. Then in 2021, I went back to an ileostomy, and I have gotten so used to it I often forget it's there. I have even made a label that says CHANGE and I put it where I can't miss it because I do forget to change it sometimes. So yes, you will get used to it.
