Hey, I'm 6 weeks after a colostomy surgery. 3 weeks after the operation, I started having cramps after everything I eat. Did anyone have that reaction by any chance?

I have a colostomy, now at 1 year post-op. I've never had cramping after eating. My intestine was damaged by hernia repair mesh, so I didn't have complications from underlying diseases like Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis.

You shouldn't experience pain. Seek care from a doctor or your surgeon. You need CT imaging to ensure your intestines are OK.

You are so right.  I will never forget this website and the people who have helped me.  I had my reversal in January of 2014.  I try and come on this website weekly to see if I can help or encourage other individuals get through the day-to-day process of life.

Copy that! There should be no pain unless the food you're eating is causing it. You have to eat light.

Must see your doctor or health care person. On a holiday weekend? Good luck on that, but there are phone numbers you can call. Services via phone to have access. If pain is profound, contact emergency services.

I had a lot of cramping after surgery for almost 8 weeks. It didn't matter what I ate. After ending up in the hospital with a blockage, the doctor gave me Buscopan, which almost immediately stopped all the cramping. I took it for a few weeks and things settled down. The doctor said my guts were all overreacting to the trauma from surgery and then blockages after, and that it happens for some people. Talk to your doctor and see if maybe that applies in your situation. I can definitely relate to your frustration and pain.
