Hi there.   Finished all my pre tests and got clearances to go🤔🫤. Any tips to someone weeks before reversal.  My stoma is 7 months old today, and we have become good friends 😳

Continue to take good care of your stoma because you don't want to get a blockage, infection, or hernia this close to your reversal date. Praying that you have a complication-free reversal.

Most important tip: walk as soon as you can after surgery. Take diaper cream for afterward, and use it regularly. Take baby wipes and use them every time you go. Advance your diet slowly. Take pain meds as needed. I was told (and it happened to me) that you will have an accident; wear adult diapers for several days until your body gives you the signs you need to poop. I had more problems with the reversal than I did with the ostomy surgery. Good luck, and remember to walk.

Good luck with everything. My reversal went really well with no problems at all. See you on the other side. Take care.

Prayers from New Zealand, and all the best for your reversal.
And I also pray that your reversal will go better than when I had mine around 2000. I guess not everyone has the same experience. All the best!

Take it day by day and introduce foods slowly back into your diet in the weeks after surgery. My reversal went really smoothly with no complications or need for diapers or creams and bowels worked really well very quickly. Everyone has a different journey so best of luck with yours

G-Day Trish,

I had my colon removed and a J-pouch fitted, but had 18 years of problems. Three years ago, I got rid of the J-pouch and went for an ileostomy, and I am 100% better off. If you have gotten used to your stoma and you don't want more operations, then why not keep your stoma?

Regards, IGGIE

Best of luck!  I posted about my reversal, which was 1 year ago today!  You got this!

Hi Iggie,

I wanted to say this before, and I did not. Your comment on not going through with an operation if you are comfortable having a stoma is spot on. I found that with each and every procedure I was put through, I developed more and more adhesions. Several times, surgeons attempted to remove them, putting in gel and other stuff I cannot remember to try and halt the growth of adhesions without any success.
They are mostly the cause of all the pain I endure.
