Hi everyone! I first posted here back in March of 2024, and it's been a wild ride.

Last November, I had a completely clear PET scan and was able to reverse my ileostomy surgery. I had no idea how difficult it was going to be to wake my colon back up and have all the organs down there play nice with each other. I was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks just waiting to poop. It finally happened, and I've been recovering ever since. Very slow going at first, but much better now. I'm hella glad to be on the other side of this and wanted to thank you all for being so kind and understanding. I'll pray for you all and be forever grateful for this group. Take care of yourselves!

Hello everyone!!!

It has been almost a year since joining this site. I just wanted to share. I know a lot of people get concerned about meeting someone on here. I'm not a lifer membership and I had someone initiate to take me out. I've been divorced since 2009. He lives in Chicago. I ignored the first time thinking he was joking. I live in Milwaukee. So a month later he sent me a message through this site saying he wanted to meet me. That was in April this year. I must say it was the best thing that could happen to me. We talk almost every day. We have so much in common. He comes up all the time to spend the day or weekend together. It really does make a difference when someone has an ostomy like you. Such understanding and we always have something to talk about. I want to share because sometimes people think it's hard to meet someone or they say this site doesn't work. I'm a testimony that this site does work. We are talking marriage this time next year. I will keep you posted.

Hi! And congratulations on getting to the other side of your surgery. I just got out of the hospital a couple of weeks ago myself, and yes, that was the roughest part of my recovery, waiting for my colon to wake back up. They didn't wait three weeks, though. After 3 days of no sign of anything happening, they inserted a catheter into my stoma and irrigated until things started moving. Within 2 days, I was back to eating and things were moving through as they should. I came home not too long after that.

I hope that you are doing well now that you're back home and recovering. Remember not to try to do things too quickly - you'll still be healing for a while! The day before yesterday, I decided I was feeling great and it was time to go on a shopping expedition. Needless to say, I spent most of yesterday in bed, just exhausted. Just take it slow and easy, and don't be silly like me.
