Hi, I'm 62 - my 2nd round with an ileostomy - once in '97 - reversal 6 months later - in and out of the hospital - many surgeries & hospital stays - back to ileostomy in 2023 - my inner pouch gets inflamed - I get the urge to move my bowels, which we all know cannot be done - it's very uncomfortable - I've been on everything from Humira to Entyvio - Stelara - nothing helps - I have wet liquid output, which causes leaks - the noise from my bag is very loud - help

Welcome ostomy23

Do you mean your disconnected j-pouch gets inflamed?

Trial and error is the only way to find which products are right for us. Phone around and email all ostomy companies to get samples to try until you find which one is right for you.

This site has been a blessing for me in learning how to cope with and navigate this journey as an ostomate. I have a colostomy as a result of a perforation in my colon since May of this year. I don't know yet if it will be permanent or reversible. The people on here have provided me with so much advice and information about living with an ostomy that I don't think I could get anywhere else. You all have given me hope and a place to come to for support. I still struggle with acceptance, but know that it will come if I am patient. Patience has never been my strong suit! Also, I love all the humor, although it really pissed me off when I first came on here. Thanks to all of you.

Are you saying they left your inner pouch in place after giving you an ileostomy? Why?

Yes - I am told my inner pouch is inflamed.

Would you consider having it removed?
