Hi. I have blood in my bag from time to time. Sometimes gross, other times little. I sent a stoma pic to the surgeon and he said the stoma was very good. He expects periodic bleeding due to the Eliquis 5mg 2x a day.
Any thoughts/comments?

Hi, can someone give me a little advice? Lately, every time I change my bag, it seems to bleed more and more where the stoma is attached to my skin. It looks like little dots of blood. I just wondered if anyone knows why this is happening and any tips on how to stop it. Thanks, Lisa.

Hello everyone, first post here... I've had a permanent ileostomy for 6 years as a result of beating colon cancer. Now I know that mucus and discharge are common from my rectum, but the last few weeks I've been noticing a significant amount of blood. I am extremely active and feel good, but this blood issue has me worried. Any thoughts on this?

So I seem to have a wound or something that is bleeding near my stoma. It's not the stoma itself but rather some sort of cut or something that keeps bleeding. Since it is under the appliance (I use a Hollister 2-piece system), I am worried about it getting infected but cannot figure out what to do. Put some Neosporin on it? Not sure how long that would last or how good it would work.
Any ideas ...

My two-year-old has an ileostomy. Yesterday, she had 150ml of bloody output. We have since been admitted to the hospital. They've stopped her feeds, are giving Dioralyte, and have taken bloods but have done nothing else. She's now flushed, sweaty, and sleepy, and has a high watery output. Does anyone have bleeding at times around the stoma? Whenever I change my ileostomy to take a shower, I notice blood around the stoma. I've had this since surgery. At times when I have removed the seal, it has been okay, but more so than usual... It's not a lot of blood but when I dab it with a soft cloth, it stings some. Wondering if it's from the fluid that causes this.

hey this is new felt i was leaking sure enough when i went to change it it kept coming out theres a split across the middle and its leaking blood like i cut it im going to keep an eye on it cannot aford tomiss work big grand opening tomorrow i have to show up or ill be fired what should i do and why the hell is this happening

About once a week when I change the bag, blood will start to spurt out. I took paper towel and applied pressure to the stoma. This happened several months ago, so I went to the emergency room and was told I could have ruptured a capillary while applying the bag. But this time I could not stop it for about an hour, and I was livid not to go back to the hospital. Has anyone had this problem?
