Hello  I started the irrigation process early this morning.  I had everything that I needed with me and for one strange reason or another it did not respond.  I placed teh cone in my stoma and low and behold nothing.  What did happen was that the water would filter out while the cone was in and fell into the sleeve but, not all of it 1.5 liters.  I am hoping that this model will work for ...

i have had a heck of a time with pouches. I have tried several different companies products and am totally disgusted that none of these products are reliable. One pouch I get 8 says out of it and the next one may not make it but one to three days! I need better than this to live an active life and right now feel a prisoner in my home due to this. I was very unwell yesterday. At midday I started having terrible contractions and my stoma stopped working. Then the pain increased so that it was a constant pain for 1 hour. I've had my colostomy since 1983. In the last year when I irrigate neither the water or stool comes out. Maybe the next day the stool will start to come out. I used to have great success irrigating. I want to move to irrigation. My question is what if you have diarrhea? The other day i had 4 outputs into my colostomy bag over 2 hours. I noticed what i ate for dinner was in the last output, well i noticed the fruit. All 4 outputs were runny not like my normal output that is more solid. 

what do you do if this happens and all you have is a stoma cap?

I have stoma which has developed into hernia. I am irrigating, but have a lot of trouble as I need longer tome to irrigate and use more water, but the sleeve not getting stuck for the full time. It comes off and start to leak on the middle of process.

Ok. I've been putting it off forever and tonight tried irrigation for the first time.

Does anyone do irrigation for the rectum after their colostomy? (if they did not close it).  I was told to do it every 2 weeks - will this eventually stop producing mucas or do I have to do this for the rest of my life?

I irrigate everyday and was always successful with it. I now have three large hernias and find it impossible to clean out my colon all the way, being blocked somewhat with the hernias.  Usually an hour or two the remaining works its way out then. Can someone explain irrigation to me? My drs have never mentioned it. I had a colostomy. Is it only for illeostomies?

I had a colostomy at the end of June and for past three weeks have been irrigating.  I would like to exchange tips and or advice with another lady in UK . I had to wait awhile to start this due to ostomy nurses holidays and certainly wish to continue but some days it seems to work better than others and I would welcome encouragement from a more experienced irrigator.

I just joined today.  I've had a colostomy since June 5th, 2019.  I'm considering irrigation and wondering if there is anybody else on here that does that.

Anyone have to do that? I just started last week and so far, I hate it. It's not difficult to do, I just am grossed out by it and feel dirty during and after doing it.

I read recently in publication from Charter in the Uk. That there seems to be a system called irrigation which means spending 30 minitues in the bathroom and then your bowel is clear for almost 24 hrs, allowing you to do almost anything, until I suppose you have to visit the bathroom again.Has anyone any idea how this system works, I would be intrested to find out.

I have been irrigating for over 8 years.  It has worked with out any issues up until now.  It has changed.  I have been experiencing issues where the water just won't go in.  One day it will work just fine and the next day, I can't get the water to go in.  I had a colenostemy a few days ago and everything checked out fine.  I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.
