Has anyone realize that Most doctors are idiots!

This topic is about the experience of living with Crohn’s disease and having a permanent ostomy, specifically focusing on the unexpected development of perianal fistulas after surgery. The person sharing their story has been dealing with Crohn’s for many years and recently underwent surgery to create a permanent ostomy. They were told that this procedure would prevent the recurrence of perianal fistulas, but unfortunately, they have developed two new ones, causing pain and frustration. Here are some insights and advice based on this experience:

1. Perianal fistulas can still occur if the anus and surrounding tissue are left intact. The only way to completely prevent them is through a proctectomy, which involves removing the anus.

2. It can be beneficial to seek multiple opinions. Different surgeons have varying levels of expertise and communication styles, so finding a skilled and understanding colorectal surgeon is important.

3. Try to maintain a cooperative relationship with your healthcare providers. Being confrontational might make it more challenging to get the care you need in the future.
