Ewesful : St Jude's is so awesome and if I were close enough I would volunteer too! Instead I do what I can for DHMC in their David's House for children and CHAD which is Children's Hospital at Dartmouth. They have an incredible team.

You will love your work and come away blessed each time! I find the more you do the more you are blessed with amazing days.

dls : In recovery, I find I am too unreliable to go back to work--Doc appts., follow ups, depression and getting my house 'in shape' to accommodate me as well as guests. My first 'step" in rejoining the real world is resubscribing to The Chamber Music Series. My late husband and I had tickets for years, and even when my daughter was small and I couldn't go, I would still send in my money to support this group. So, I just received my tickets for the 2018-19 season. The concerts are fantastic (if you like Chamber music)--musicians from all over the world. They are only once every six weeks--If I can get to them, the my step is to volunteer. Once I can be somewhere reliably, I want my old job back. This is going to take some time. Angelicamarie, have you started volunteering yet? Sep 09, 2018
Angelicamarie : dis... No I haven't at the time I called, my brother had died. The lady in charge didn't think it was a good time for me. It wasn't St Jude though as I thought ... It was Shriners children hospital for children. I actually wanted to take care babies whom had an ostomy. Truly it dont work that way., your placed where needed. I was to told to grieve and then call back. I never did I actually send cards to the sick and the shut-in and occasionally send flowers. Which is quite rewarding especially when doing for the elderly. Wish you luck! Angelicamarie Sep 11, 2018
Past Member: I did some volunteer work at a homeless shelter this year. Its sad really to see what these people go through. you see an meet "everyone". Veterans, disabled, gang bangers, children, drug addicts and these people coming together in one place for all of one need. Sep 16, 2018
Angelicamarie : joe86.... yes it is sad.and quite an eye opener... some in that situation get out and get it together. Then of course some.don't. I don't think we have enough shelters for people. Good for you!!! I'm sure it was quite rewarding anytime you help another is a good thing. Thanks for your comments. Angelicamarie Sep 16, 2018
