Question: support belt or wrap? I’ve seen the belts with the hole in it. Can you wear a support belt without the hole? For the women, have any of you tried the wrap that looks like a skirt? Thank you!

I have a support belt and love it. You would not want to wear it without the holes, as it would block your ostomy. My belt has a light fabric designed to hold my bags, which is a bit like a belt and a wrap in one.

I'm planning to order a Nu Hope belt, which is just a plain belt. Not sure which I will prefer, but it looks like insurance will pay for the Nu Hope belt, so it's worth a try if only to have something to wear when the first is being washed.

I've not tried the wrap like a skirt; my ostomies are much too high on my body for that to work.

You can wear a support belt and a wrap if you want. I have a hernia belt with just the hole for support and wear a wrap that covers/holds the bag. No more uncomfortable wearing the two than wearing just one.

I wear a tummy sleeve from a maternity shop. It works well for me. Also, the Hollister belt to be extra safe.

You could try one of these, cheap and easy, I wear the same without the hole when training, but not for very long. I would be cautious not to have the band to tight so it forces your stoma out further.

I just bought from TEMU what ladies call a boob tube, but knowing they would be too tight, I bought two of them. After trial and error, I used my sewing machine to join the two together until I got the right amount of tension so as not to stop the contents from moving down the bag, and it works okay.

I'm letting you guys know I use a boob tube but don't let anyone else know.

Both, sweetie. Any extra protection will always help.

A flange belt plus wrap.

I’m concerned about my clothes not fitting once I get belted up or it being on the tight side and feeling like I can’t breathe 🤔

Did you have to cut a hole in it or is it not too tight?

Aah yes, it looks like I’m going to go for both. I liked Iggie’s idea of the boob tube. Don’t worry IGGIE I won’t tell 🫣. Oops, I guess I just did… ha- oh dear.

No, the belly space is fine after it has been used a few times. You may get a little pancaking but by then it is time to change anyway.

Regarding the wraps... they are not corset types. They are comfortable depending on how wide you get one. All different widths... they stretch... The only thing in summer is you do sweat... so there is that... and in winter, it keeps you warm. I never had an uncomfortable wrap. You need to experiment to see what fits well.

The flange belts are adjustable.

Now... when the time comes you can't breathe... give me a second here...

Naw... I'll be good. 🤭😉

I bought a hernia support belt with a hole in it, where my bag goes through. I bought it from AliExpress from China, and it fits and does give me support, but I often cannot keep it on for long as it just feels too tight. As I suffer from both acute and chronic pain, I prefer to be comfortable, but if I want to go into the vegetable garden, my husband insists I wear it to prevent any more hernias.

G-Day Worzie,

Temu always puts the dimensions of what you're buying, so it's up to you to read them. Also, if you're not happy with it, you can let them know and they will repay you. I have only had a couple of things I didn't like, and they not only repaid me but didn't want the product back.

Regards, IGGIE

Hi there!

I wear a Hollister adjustable belt and also a wrap I ordered from Amazon by Corsinel. It is not a skirt type but you roll the bottom part up and your bag fits in this part. The top part has a hole for your stoma.  It does take up some room but is very soft and stretchy and feels good against your skin. Also, it won’t break the bank. Give it a try! Stoma safe/Plus Ostomy.

I tried the girdle and hated it, too. Free from Medicare every 6 months, I pay for Stealth Belt $100-130, adjustable, to fit. Nice for sitting to standing. Super Velcro with a second outer Velcro belt. Ready to wear, from the box. It makes my little buddy happy.
